Day 1, Moscow, 4 October 2019 (Friday)

CITY TOUR 

Moscow, the  capital of the Russian Federation represents  unique old architectural masterpieces as well as modern high-tech buildings. Our tour will showcase the best of this fascinating city and its rich history and culture. We will cover the world-famous landmarks, such as the Red Square, the Kremlin, the Victory Park, the White House, Arbat Street, Cathedral Christ-the-Saviour, the observation platform of Sparrow hills, Lomonosov University and much more! It will no doubt be informative and an interesting introduction to Europe’s biggest city.

CHRIST THE SAVIOUR CATHERDRAL 

An architectural masterpiece, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is the   main cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church. Its significantly dramatic past is an integral part of the history of Russia. Consecrated in 1883 to commemorate the victory over Napoleon, the original was torn to the ground by the Soviet government in 1931 and replicated in 2000. Today, it is the biggest Orthodox cathedral in Russia, providing enough room for up to 10,000 people. You will see valuable artifacts inside such as war relics and centuries-old icons and enjoy sweeping views of the city center.

KREMLIN

Visit one of the most well-known sights of Moscow – the Kremlin with its red brick walls and 20 towers holding their own unique history. Since its first construction in 1156 as a wooden fortress by the order of Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky, it has been rebuilt several times. The current appearance was completed in 1495 by the best architects of Russia and Italy. Today Kremlin is the residence of the Russian President and the main symbol of the country, revered by all of its citizens.

RED SQUARE WALKING TOUR

If there is one place on earth that is so charming and captivating to see, even if you have seen it a dozen times before, this place is it! This surely will be a breathtaking experience for you.  During the walking tour, you will have fantastic vistas to capture memorable pictures of these 73,000 square meters of brick-paved square surrounded by the Kremlin Walls, Lenin’s Tomb, St Basil’s Cathedral, Resurrection gate, GUM superstore and the Russian State Historical Museum. On to left of the main square, is one of the oldest urban public parks in Moscow - The Alexander Garden which is home to a collection of valuable architectural monuments: Kutafia tower of the Kremlin, Italian grotto, an obelisk to the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, as well as sculptures, fountains and mosaics based on popular fairytales. Our experienced guide will share with you details of events that took place in the Red Square that are of great historical importance which has shaped the nation’s history.

ARBAT STREET 

Originally part of an important trade route and home to a large number of craftsmen,Arbat Street is one of the oldest and most vibrant streets in Moscow. In the 18th century Arbat became one of the most prestigious residential areas in Moscow and home to the intelligentsia and artists. Arbat Street is lined with elegant buildings, a museum in the residence of great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, lot of souvenir shops, cafés and restaurants, an entire wall dedicated to the pioneers of Russian rock and the impressive historical building of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

METRO TOUR

Find out why Moscow metro is considered one the most beautiful in the world. Well preserved and maintained, it constitutes a vast museum of underground palaces with impressive interiors, statues and relics, monumental and decorative compositions (paintings, mosaics, stained glass and painting) and numerous labyrinths. During the tour you will visit the most remarkable stations like Komsomolskaya, Kurskaya, Kievskaya and others. Our experienced guide will give you a full insight into their fascinating history.
